Academics

Orange County Public Schools is committed to ensuring every student graduates prepared and inspired for a thriving future. We empower students with a superior academic experience, essential life skills, and boundless opportunities.

On this page, you’ll find information about what our school offers to help lead all of our students to success.

In Florida’s primary grades, students build strong foundations in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. They learn to read with fluency and comprehension, express ideas through writing, solve math problems using number sense and reasoning, and explore the world through hands-on science and social studies activities. Social skills, creativity, and critical thinking are nurtured to support the whole child’s development.

In Florida’s intermediate grades, students deepen their understanding of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. They learn to think critically, solve complex problems, and express ideas clearly. Reading focuses on comprehension and analysis, while math emphasizes fluency and real-world application. Science and social studies encourage curiosity and exploration. These years build strong academic habits and prepare students for middle school success.

Art, Music, and Physical Education (PE) enrich students’ learning and support their overall development.

In Art, students explore creativity through drawing, painting, and design. Music introduces rhythm, instruments, and performance, building listening and expression skills. Physical Education promotes fitness, teamwork, and healthy habits through fun, active games.

These classes help students grow socially, emotionally, and physically while discovering new interests and talents.
