OCPS 30/30 RuleThe District’s Delayed Dismissal Weather procedures require that the nationally recognized “30/30 Rule” be enacted by the school if thunder is heard within 30 seconds of a lightning strike. Students will not be dismissed until 30 minutes has passed from the last sound of thunder. Buses won't be loaded.  Car riders, bikers and walkers will not be released. However, parents/guardians (with a valid ID and are on the student's Emergency Data Card if they are not the parent/guardian) who wish to pick up their child/children during delayed dismissal, will be allowed to sign out their child/children at the front office . Car riders, walkers and bike rider’s parents/guardians should bring your “yellow/blue” dismissal tag to the front door of the school in order to sign your child/children out. If you do not have a “yellow/blue” dismissal tag, you will need to provide a picture ID and be on the school pick-up list in order to pick-up the child/children. Bus riders will be transported home when conditions are all safe for dismissal. Parents/guardians of bus riders may pick your child/children up using the “yellow/blue” dismissal tag or your picture ID.

A “Connect Orange” automated telephone message will be used to notify parents/guardians about delayed dismissals.  Sometimes the rest of the day's bus schedule is impacted after a delay.
